I remember growing up feeling that I didn't fit in. I would start off the first day of every school year with the goal of being one of the popular kids, and a teachers pet. By the end of each of those first days of school feeling invisible and not enough. This continued into my first year of high school when I gained a very important perspective.
It turns out that all of those years I was not actually alone, and I was enough. Throughout my life I have always had my circle. It has usually consisted of one or two people that were my ride or dies.
I may not have been the popular kid, and as a Soldier I wasn't someone that had a large group of battle buddies. I did however have a small circle that had my back, and would have laid down their life for mine during our hard deployments. They cared about me in spite of my quirks and annoyances.
Statistically my life is over 50% complete, and because of that knowledge I am very intentional of who I allow in my circle. A small group of people who get me, and make me a better human.
Find a circle that strengthens your soul. One or two people that would drop everything to sit with you in the depths of hell as you battle your own demons. Don't put your energy into those things those that are not willing to do the same for you.
